The works arise from a process of exploration in which charcoal as an element resulting from environmental problems associated with deforestation and illegal burning of forests, becomes a base element for creation, posing as a premise the symbolic reconstruction of forests or ecosystem through art.
As a result of this process, the Refugios series appears as a series of paintings made in acrylics on paper made from charcoal, which is presented as a symbolic way to protect and safeguard species identified with the Caribbean region due to these problems that afflict the region, turning the paper into a form of ecosystem to inhabit these species.
