Unfading landscapes
The artwork stems from an exploratory process in which charcoal, as an element resulting from environmental problems associated with deforestation and the illegal burning of forests, is transformed into a base element for creation and the symbolic reconstruction of the landscape.
This material, resulting from the destruction and deterioration of biospheres, is reused in an artistic context to prompt a reflection on the relationship between human beings and nature.
Through gesture, stroke, and line, a series of drawings on paper is presented, depicting characteristic landscapes of the Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta. This ecosystem, located on the northern coast of Colombia, is known for its biological richness and ecological importance. However, it has also been affected by various human activities that have jeopardized its balance. The work seeks to allegorically restore the characteristic biomes of this territory.
